We walked about one mile in the snow from Douglas Island to downtown Juneau, Alaska, to watch the Django Unchained movie.

We give this exciting western that has an awesome soundtrack a Groovy Outdoors Film Rating of: Groovy.

In fact, I think it is my favorite flick of the year. It has all the great actors and actresses, plus cowboys, horses, and shootin’ irons.

And if you like a hero, Jamie Foxx is it in this movie. He let’s nothing stand in his way to rescue his woman. Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington, Christoph Waltz, and Samuel L. Jackson all give great performances.

Two notes of importance before watching. First, it is a bloody bastard. Blood everywhere. Second, it provides a glimpse into the horrors of slavery.

Overall, this is a great action movie for the not so faint at heart that should be on your “have to see” list.
